Mankato Area Public Schools' Community Education and Recreation Department, in partnership with South Central College and South Central Minnesota Workforce Centers, is offering three no cost college and career preparation courses for healthcare, manufacturing and truck driving. FastTRAC courses will be held at South Central College, 1920 Lee Boulevard, North Mankato:
- FastTRAC to healthcare careers is an eight-week course--June 12 through August 11--that prepares students to enter programs such as nursing assistant, phlebotomy or medical lab technician.
- FastTRAC to manufacturing careers (welding, machining, mechatronics) is a six-week course--July 5 through August 1--that prepares students to enroll in college manufacturing core courses and take assessment for the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council certified production technician, a nationally-recognized credential. Core courses are the first step to advanced manufacturing for welding, computer integrated machining and mechatronics.
- FastTRAC to truck driving careers prepares students for the commercial truck driving permit test. Students can start any time and finish in as fast as four weeks.
Paraprofessionals preparation course
Mankato Area Public Schools' Community Education and Recreation will also offer a paraprofessionals preparation course from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Fridays in June (9, 16, 23 and 30) at Lincoln Community Center, 110 Fulton Street.
